After the invention of the www and the emergence of social media, the digitization of the physical world could be “the next big thing”. The leading technology corporations such as Apple, Google, Facebook and Microsoft have been working on implementing the ideas for the so-called “Metaverse” for some time now.

In our view, at least three conditions must be met for the Metaverse to come into being: It must be possible to create digital 3D models with a smartphone, the data should be able to be stored and shared in a cloud, and suitable software is needed with which 3D models can be communicated.

Scanergy has created an ecosystem consisting of three products to meet the above requirements: “amscan” is an app for mobile capture of objects and spaces that works on modern smartphones (www.amscan.app). “meshvalley” is a marketplace where 3D models can be stored and viewed in real time (www.meshvalley.com). “aahaa” is a virtual camera that can be used to show 3D models in video conferences as if they were real objects (www.aahaa.cam).

The market for Scanergy is in the multi-billion-dollar range. Since these are disruptive products, strong growth is expected. Especially after the introduction of Smart Glasses, further market growth is expected.

Scanergy’s business model is based on three pillars: trading 3D models on meshvalley, showcasing branded products in aahaa, and positioning brands in the Scanergy ecosystem. Management plans to release a non-commercial version of the ecosystem in the first quarter of 2022. The first revenue is expected in the second quarter.

The company’s funding to date has come from the founders and a startup grant from the “Wirtschaftsförderung Kanton Schaffhausen”. A capital increase is planned for the first half of 2022 to accelerate the commercialization of the ecosystem.
